Ten thousand sailors are arranged around the edge of their ship. They hold, in order, the numbers 1,2,3,4,....,10,000. Starting the count with the number 1, sailor 2 is pushed in; then sailor 3 is skipped and sailor 4 is pushed in; then sailor 5 is skipped and sailor 6 is pushed in. This keeps going round and round until ALL the sailors are pushed overboard.
1. Where should you be standing to be the last survivor? (the answer is NOT elsewhere other than the ship).
2. How many times is the survivor skipped over before he/she is finally pushed overboard?
3. Find the location of the second to the last survivor? (the first runner-up)
