ALGEBRA II FINAL TOMORROW - I need help on Study Guide!
I have a couple, well actually a lot, of questions on the math review guide we just got.
My math final is tomorrow and it is crucial that I pass.

My first question is --

Factor x cubed - 7x + 6 given that f(1)=0

In other words, we know that x-1 is a factor of x[sup:3cpcsr6z]3[/sup:3cpcsr6z] - 7x + 6.
Try long division (synthetic division?) and see what happens.
x[sup:3cpcsr6z]3[/sup:3cpcsr6z] - 7x + 6 divided by x-1 = ??

Knowing that (x-1) is a factor - you can write the following:

x[sup:1xviwtec]3[/sup:1xviwtec] - 7x + 6

= x[sup:1xviwtec]3[/sup:1xviwtec] - x[sup:1xviwtec]2[/sup:1xviwtec] + x[sup:1xviwtec]2[/sup:1xviwtec] - x - 6x + 6

= x[sup:1xviwtec]2[/sup:1xviwtec](x-1) + x(x-1) -6(x-1)

=(x-1)(x[sup:1xviwtec]2[/sup:1xviwtec] + x - 6)

Now factorize the quadratic further....
