Sum of dice possibilities

The question is which is the sum of all possible dice combinations:

And the answer is 217.
I'm curious to know why...

What do you mean by "dice combinations"? Combinations of how many dice?

Possible combos (6 dice) go from 6 to 36: total 651

Happens that 651/3 = 217...so

That wasn't an answer! Denis was pointing out a calculation that gives 217. He said he didn't know why that would be valid.
