Emily, this is a free math help forum where we help students solve their problem. Wo never solve problems for students. A free homework service forum would do that.

If you want help from this forum that will be great! You just need to read our forum posting guidelines so you know how to present a post. The most important part will be you sharing the work you have done so that the helpers on this forum know where you are stuck and then give you hints to get back on track. I hope that you post back all the way from Malaysia!

BTW, study pure math instead of applied. It will be more fun!!

surely you can visualize the motion of a damped pendulum.

It starts with maximum displacement and zero velocity, it heads towards the origin with increasing velocity, passes the origin with maximum velocity, and heads towards maximum displacement of the opposite sign with decreasing velocity finishing at maximum displacement and zero velocity.

It then reverses direction and goes through the same sequence of steps.

Over time as they note the maximum displacement decreases to 0.

With position on one axis and velocity on the other what well known curve does this make?
