Abbot can do some work in 10 days, Bill can do it in 20 days and Clinton can do it in 40 days. They start working in turns with Abbot starting to work on the first day followed by Bill on the 2nd day and by Clinton on the 3rd day and again by Abbot on the fourth day and so ontill the work is completed fully.find the time to complete the work fully.

Per Day work by A = 1/10

Per day work by B = 1/20

Per day work by c = 1/40

4/40 + 2/40 + 1/40 + again cycle continues = 1

( 1/10 * daysA + 1/20 * daysB + 1/40 * daysC ) =1

You seem to be overlooking the fact that each works the same number of days, unless they finish before the last three-day round is finished.

How much of the work is completed in the first round of 3 days?

How many rounds will it take?

What will happen on the last round?

Based on your computations, every three days they do 7/40 of the job.

After 5*3days = 15 day, they will have completed 5*7/40 = 35/40 of the job. How much more time is need to complete the job?

Good! What was your answer? If you show how you solved the problem it will help others with similar problems.
