TI-83 calculator help

How do you put this into your calculator:

x=(e^7/320) ^1/4
to find x=1.3606

Your formatting is ambiguous, so I hesitate to state specifics. Review your owners manual for the keystrokes to use. When in doubt, work from the inside out. For instance, find the power on e, then do "e to the power ANS", and then do "ANS to the power (one-fourth?)".

No idea if this applies to Ti calculators, but CASIOs use "eAns" (or e1, e57 etc) as opposed to "e^Ans" (or e^1 etc). That is, no ^ is needed (in CASIOs, anyway).

logarithmic Functions

I have a TI-83 Plus. it was giving to me. So I have no guide book. Could someone tell me how to use it to do logarithmic functions

Guidebooks can be downloaded from the Texas Instruments web site. Go to the "Education" section, and follow the links for guidebooks.

Note: The guidebooks are presented as PDFs. If you have a slow connection, you might prefer to download the books chapter-by-chapter, rather than all at once.

Hope that helps.

or you can enter what you typed here with one (ambiguous) exception.
(e^7/320)^(1/4)
e is (2nd) (divided by)

The log key is base 10
You should get 3 from
log(1000)
The ln key is base e
You should get 3 from
ln(e^3)

Ah, that is no longer a calculator question.
You have to know that
log7(u) = log(u)/log(7)
where u = sqrt(4y) = 2sqrt(y)
log(u) = log(2)+(1/2)log(y) so
log7(sqrt(4y)) =
log(2)/log(7)+log(y)/(2*log(7))
