Hello, this is my first time posting. This homework is due tomorrow and there are some parts of the diffferent equations I just don't understand.

Some of the things I need to find for several equations are:
d. Give the equation of the vertical or horizontal asymptote.
e. Is the function growth or decay? When appropriate give the growth or decay factor and rate.
f. Describe the difference of the function and it's parent function (i.e. 4 units left and 2 units down, reflected about line y=0)

If anyone can explain these any better than what's posted, please post a reply.

My homework also deals with logs and ln equations such as log2(base)16. How do I simply/evaluate these? Thanks for any advice.

Now sure how to read what you have given me so if this ...

log2(base)16
means the base is 16 then do this.
use change of base rule to simply this expression

log a(base) c = log a (base)10 / log c (base) 10

so doing this with your equation gives

log2(base)16 = log 2 (base)10 / log 16 (base)2

However if you meant the base is the 2 then it looks like this...
log a(base) c = log 10(base) a / log 10(base) c

then...
log2(base)16 = log 10 (base) 16 / log 10(base) 2

sorry one typo error before

The base was 2.

As for what you came up with:
log a(base) c = log 10(base) a / log 10(base) c

then...
log2(base)16 = log 10 (base) 16 / log 10(base) 2

Where'd you get the log 10 from? Also, is there a certain equation that you think would help me understand this? It seems like it's a lot of different steps and I'm trying to figure out which order to do each step.

Well I asked some people in my family and others and they can't figure it out. I'm just toughing it out and filling in my best guesses. At least they just check for work and not the right answers for credit...Thanks for your help
