In triangle RST, SA is the median to RF. If RA=5x-30 and AT 7x-50, find the length of RF.

What is the definition of "median"? And how does this relate to the relative lengths of RA and AT?

Eliz.

Hello, stargil2989!

I assume you're hitting "F" instead of "T".

Did you make a sketch?

In triangle RST, SA is the median to RT.
If RA = 5x - 30 and AT = 7x - 50, find the length of RT.
Code:
          S
          *
         * * *
        *   *  *
       *     *    *
      * * * * * * * *
     R        A      T
We are told that: RA = 5x - 30 and AT = 7x - 50.

Since A is the midpoint of RT, RA = AT: .5x - 30 .= .7x - 50 . . . and solve for x.

Don't forget to answer the question.
. . The length of RT is: .RA + AT .= .(5x - 30) + (7x - 50) .= .12x - 80
