How is this solved as I keep getting this wrong

The function you have presumably written has its vertex at (1, 2), not (-1.1) as in the graph. That is, the function f(x) = x^2 has been shifted right 1 and up 2, rather than left 1 and up 1 as required.

Also, your g(x) opens upward, rather than downward, and has not been stretched or compressed vertically, as will be required. There are several ways you might find the value of a in g(x) = a(x-h)^2+k; one is, after filling in h and k, to pick a point on the graph such as (1,-1), put that in for x and y, and solve for a.
