Hi guys, i've uploaded a picture of the question...hopefully you can see it!
im stuck on where to rearrange the formula into a polynomial, if thats the correct way to do it...any help would be much appreciated :)

where to rearrange the formula into a polynomial, <<< I don't follow what you mean.

The insruction was pretty clear....

\(\displaystyle Express \ \tan(2\alpha) \ \ in \ \ terms \ \ of \ \tan(\alpha) \ \ and \ \ hence .....\)

did you do that first?
 
\(\displaystyle tan(2a)=\frac{2tan(a)}{1-tan^{2}(a)}\)

That identity should help.
