Unnecessary Operation

I've fiddled around and around with the problem, and I'm inclined to answer E, impossible. Is that correct or am I overlooking a small detail?

There is no guessing in math. Figure out how to get 14 with the given restrictions and you'll see which operation is not needed. If you think it's impossible you need to prove it.

It may be easy but your solution is NOT valid as you did not use 3 out of the 4 operations listed. You only used 2 of them. Sorry.
