23. [MATH]\frac{2^4-3^2}{3\cdot\dfrac{4}{5}\cdot3}=\frac{5(16-9)}{36}=\frac{35}{36}[/MATH]

Everything you've done so far is good, on both problems. You can finish both of them up by reviewing the relationship between multiplication and division. Those two operations "undo" each other, and that means that dividing by something always yields the same result as multiplying by 1 over that same something.

What have written so far is correct. Now, how do you divide two fractions of the form
\(\displaystyle \dfrac{a}{b} \div \dfrac{c}{d}\)

-Dan

Multiply things out:
[MATH]\frac{2^4-3^2}{3\cdot\dfrac{4}{5}\cdot3} = \dfrac{2^4 - 3^2}{\dfrac{3 \cdot 4 \cdot 3}{5}} = \dfrac{5 (2^4 - 3^2)}{3 \cdot 4 \cdot 3}[/math]
Can you finish?

-Dan

When I do this problem I’m getting a really long answer. Like 1.028 etc. I don’t understand how MarkFL did it and got that answer

For #23 - the last line you wrote:

36/5 * 7/1 ..........................................That is incorrect

It should be

7/1 * 5/36

Now continue...........

This question expects a fraction answer; decimals are not always exact, because they fail to terminate. By trying to get a decimal answer, you are probably confusing yourself.

You need to divide 7 by 36/5; that means multiplying 7/1 by 5/36, not multiplying 36/5 by 7/1. And your decimal answer is 9/7, which suggests you somehow have 7 on the bottom.

Please show your current work, in fraction form, so we can see where you are still going wrong.

This is my current work. Thank you for helping me out
