Can someone please tell me why my teacher took off a point on this test question?

Because your teacher likes you and was being really nice. I would have taken off more than one point! the anti-derivative of \(\displaystyle 2x^{1/2}\) is \(\displaystyle 2(2/3)x^{3/2}= \frac{4}{3}x^{3/2}+ C\) not "\(\displaystyle 3x^{3/2}\)"! You multiplied by 3/2 rather than dividing by it.
