1) A pyramid with an equilateral triangle for a base has a volume of 48 SqRt 3 cm^3 and a height of 16 cm. Find the length of each side of the equilateral triangle.

Would the side lengths for the triangle be 6. Because if you work backwards and you divide 48 SqRt 3 by 16 you get 3 SqRt 3 then you divide by 1/3 and you get 9SqRt 3 which is the area if the triangle so the height would have to be 3 SqRt 3 multiplied by 6 divided by 2.

2) A filter apparatus is submerged in fish tank A, raising the water level by 1 cm. When the same filter is submerged in fish tank B, the water level is raised only 0.5 cm. If the fish tanks have the same water level without a filter, what is the ratio of the water surface of tank A to the water surface of tank B.

It seems to easy but would the ratio just be 2 : 1?

1. yes ... side length = 6 cm

2. you have it backwards ... area A: area B = 1:2
