question: a certain bacteria culture doubles every 3 hours. The estimated count of bacteria after 6 h was 12 000.

a) Write an equation of the form P(t) = P°(2)^1/d
P(t) is the number of bacteria present after t hours
P° is the initial count of bacteria, and
d is the number of hours required for the culture to double
b) What was the initial size of the culture?

ok my question is for the P(t) would i substitute in 12 000(6) or just 12 000 ???

It should be \(\displaystyle \L
P(t) = P_0 \left( {2^{\frac{t}{3}} } \right)\).
Note the difference in what you wrote.

To find P0 solve \(\displaystyle \L
P(6) = P_0 \left( {2^2 } \right) = 12000\).
