For all positive integers m; m=3m when m is odd and m=1/2m when m is even. Which of the following is equivalent to 9*6?

a)81
b)54
c)36
d)27
e)18

The thing that threw me off in this problem is that the m's and all the answer choices (81, 54, 36, 27,18) are inside a box and I don't know what the "box" means. Can you please help me answer the problem?

9 is odd, so = 3*9 = 27
6 is even, so = 6*(1/2) = 3

27 * 3 = 81

thank you, so I guess the boxes surrounding each no. meant nothing

we're not here to decide what unseen little boxes mean
