What is the area between the curves.

How they want you to solve this seems very specific to what you did in class.

I suspect none of us were there. I for one have no idea what they are referring to with "Top", "Bottom" etc
 
Top, bottom refers to the vertical strips.
Step 1: Find the x-values for the points of intersection.
Step 2: Draw the vertical strips.
Step 3a: Ask yourself if the top of every strip is coming from the same function?
Step 3b: Ask yourself if the bottom of every strip is coming from the same function?
Step 4: Try to setup the integral.
