Why plug in 0.01 and then multiply to get the height?

i don't understand why they would plug .01 to the function and then again multiply it to get the height. i mean .01 is located in the base of the rectangle, it just doesn't make sense.

exuse me if my questions are little illogical. but really it does matter a lot to me. i would really appreciate it if help is provided!
 
By plugging 0.1 into the function gives the height. The base is 0.1

The area is base time height, so \(\displaystyle \L\\x(x^{2}-x+7)=0.1((0.1)^{2}-(0.1)+7)=0.691\)
