A group of college students arranged a musical program. It was estimated that after deducting all the expenses, earning for a seating capacity of 100 persons will be Rs.6 per seat as the seating capacity increase beyond 100 seats, the earning on each chair would be 5 paisas per seat less for excess of seats above 100.what should be seating capacity so as to earn the maximum amount???

How much money is/what is "Rs.6?"

How many paisas are in Rs.6?

For instance, browsing around the Internet, if it were the case that 100 paisas equals 1 rupee (and I don't even know
if paisas and rupees are part of the same group of currency), then we could have this situation:

Let x = the number of seats in excess of 100

Let A(x) = the amount of earnings

\(\displaystyle Amount \ \ of \ \ earnings \ \ = \ \ (Number \ \ of \ \ seats)(Cost \ \ per \ \ seat)\)

\(\displaystyle A(x) \ = \ (100 \ + \ x)(Rs.6 \ - \ 0.05x) \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \) Do not take this as correct automatically. It's a suggestion,

and it depends on you answering my first couple of questions.

How much money is/what is "Rs.6?" - Money used in South-Eastern Asian continent

How many paisas are in Rs.6? 1 Rupee (Rs.) = 100 paisas (in India) so 6 Rupees (Rs.) = 600 paisas

What formula did you create for this? You did this same sort of exercise back in algebra, so try using that:

current cost:
seats: 100
per-seat: 600
income: 100*600 = [fill this in]

proposed cost:
seats: 100 + s
per-seat: 600 - 5s
income: [fill this in]

Then note that the income expression is a quadratic, so the maximum will be at the vertex. ;)
