Hello, and welcome to FMH!

What if you group as follows:

(100 - 99) + (98 - 97) + (96 - 95) + ... + (2 - 1)

Welcome to the forum. The way it works here is that in the end you give us the solution and we help you get there. We just do not give final answers.
MarkFL gave you a wonderful hint. Are you able to work with that? You are just adding 1's and the real question is how many 1's.
Post back and let us know how you are making out with this problem.
