Hi I am really stuck on a question and have been for over an hour.
You are decorating your bedroom at the DIY shop mixing different paints to get the colour you want the painting you require 4 parts rusty red 7 parts deep saffron one part slate grey you need to paint an area 48.6 meters
squared and 1 litre of your special paint will cover for 5m squared how many do you need of each colour. How many litres of each

Hello, and welcome to FMH! :)

I would first determine how many liters of the special paint will be required to cover the given area. If each liter will cover \(5\text{ m}^2\), and you need to cover \(48.6\text{ m}^2\), how many liters will you need?

To follow up:

We find that we will need:

[MATH]\frac{48.6}{5}=\frac{243}{25}[/MATH]
liters of paint. Broken down into the fractions and amounts of the component colors:

Rusty red: [MATH]\frac{4}{4+7+1}=\frac{1}{3}\implies \frac{81}{25}\text{ L}[/MATH]
Deep Saffron: [MATH]\frac{7}{12}\implies \frac{567}{100}\text{ L}[/MATH]
Slate grey: [MATH]\frac{1}{12}\implies \frac{81}{100}\text{ L}[/MATH]
