For the function,
y = 1
------
x - 1

Give the y values for x = -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3
Answer:
x|____|____|____|____|____|____|
y|____|____|____|____|____|____|

\(\displaystyle \mbox{y = \frac{1}{x - 1}}\)

The y-value at \(\displaystyle \mbox{x=-2}\) is found by substituting \(\displaystyle \mbox{x=-2}\) into the equation for \(\displaystyle \mbox{y}\).

At \(\displaystyle \mbox{x=-2}\),

\(\displaystyle \L \mbox{y = \frac{1}{x - 1} = \frac{1}{(-2) - 1} = \frac{1}{-3} = - \frac{1}{3}}\)

Do the same for the others.
