hi, this cropped up amongst a set of very straightforward pythag questions, but it seems much more complicated than the rest - am I overthinking it? help!

a boat sails from the harbour to the lighthouse. The lighthouse is 11km to the south and 8km to the east of the harbour. calculate the distance between the harbour and the lighthouse.

I tried constructing a right angled triangle from this information and can find the hypotenuse (13.6?) but that isn't the distance from the harbour.

any thoughts out there?

Why do you say that?!
