So were on the chapter where we factor polynomials by reversing the process and using zero factor property. Here are the questions with my answers...can someone check for me??

1. 12x^2=8x

12x^2-8x=0
4x(3x-2)=0

ANSWER= x=0 x=2/3

2. x(3x-2)-7(3x-2)=0

(x-7)(3x-2)=0
x-7=0 3x-2=0

ANSWER= x=7 x=2/3

3. x(x+9)=2(x+9)
x(x+9)-2(x+9)=0
(x-2)(x+9)=0

ANSWER= x=2 x=-9

Did I do these correct? I did check my answers but my questio is...when using zero factor will one of my answers always be x=0? Or can I have actual #'s. THANKS

The idea is not that the variable = 0. It is the idea that two (or more) quantities, when multiplied together, equals zero. Therefore, one of those quantities must be a zero. If one of those quantities happens to be an x, then x = 0. If one of the quantities happens to be something like x+3 then that quantity equals zero, so x=-3. In the problems you asked to be checked, there was only one x=0 answer. Seems to me you answered your own question.
