1) 3 - 2(x + 3) + 2 = 1

2) 1/3(t - 5) - 6

3) If a blue heroin that measures 3.5 inches in the photo is actually 3.75 feet tall, then approximately how long is its beak if it measures 0.4 inches in the photo?

Re: Algebra help

Looks suspiciously like you skipped classes, now want us to do your homework...
Let's see:
2(x-5) = 4 : solve for x
If you can't do that, then you need to be in class, not here.

Solve (1)\(\displaystyle \L \;3-2(x+3)+2=1\;\) and (2)\(\displaystyle \L \;1/3(t-5)\,=\,6\;\)

(3)If a blue heroin that measures 3.5 incehes in the photo is actually 3.75 feet tall approximately how long is its beak of it measures 0.4 inchesin the photo.

1) \(\displaystyle \L 3\,-\,2\,(x\,+\,3)\,+\,2\,=\,1\;\)

\(\displaystyle \L 3\,-\,2x\,-\,6\,+\,2\,=\,1\)

\(\displaystyle \L -\,2x\,-\,1\,=\,1\)

\(\displaystyle \L -\,2x\,=\,2\)

\(\displaystyle \L x\,=\,-\,1\)

So:\(\displaystyle \L \;3\,-\,2\,(\,-\,1\,+\,3)\,+\,2\,=\,1\;\)

On the second I'm gonna go out on my and say you mean: \(\displaystyle \L \;\frac{1}{3(t\,-\,5)}\,=\,6\)

2) \(\displaystyle \L \;\frac{1}{3t\,-\,15}\,=\,\frac{6}{1}\)

Criss - Cross Multiplication:\(\displaystyle \L \;1\,=\,18t\,-\,90\)

\(\displaystyle \L \;90\,=\,18t\)

\(\displaystyle \L \;t\,=\,5\)

3) Ok lets make a proportional proportion!

\(\displaystyle \L \frac{3.5}{3.75}\,=\,\frac{.4}{x}\)

\(\displaystyle \L 1.5\,=\,3.5x\)

\(\displaystyle \L x\,=\,.428571429\,\to\,\approx.43\,in.\)
